    Default Often overlooked Pine Siskin

    Day 3 with R5.
These birds are often overlooked but I like their daintiness, pointed beak and tiny size.
I like this image because he is using the alder as a perch and food source.
    R5, 600mm
    ISO 2500 F4.0 SS 1/1250
Crop of 50% (which is something I have never done but the 45MP allow the big crop and still retains good IQ. Your thoughts?

    Gail:

Like the framing, angle of branch, soft light and colors, feeding activity. IQ held up well despite crop.

I like these birds. They usually show up at the feeders with goldfinches. Nice how the feet are gripping that perch. Framing and pose are right on.

Terrific Gail, these sweeties are so tiny! Lots of details throughout and the feed/perch action is perfectly captured. I was trying to remember when i stood on something and ate the same thing at the same time, hmmmm, it'll come to me...!

Hi Gail, pin sharp, and good DOF throughout the image. Well timed to capture the behaviour, but no doubt, this was from a burst of shots. I like the colour of the BG.
