Beautiful colours and details, the crop works well.

I like the hunkered down pose, sweet BG and that intense red eye. Looks like the new rig is really working out for you. Well done David.

Very nice light and BG.
Bird is nice and sharp through the face and bill.
I would select the BG and reduce the magenta by 1 point.
A good solid image,
Gail

Solid portrait in sweet light. Good comp. I'm thinking f/12 or 13 would have been good for the shoulder here. I love the texture on the neck!

Nice Portrait, I think it is a tad oversharpened but minor..

Beautiful. Ditto all the positives above. Too bad it had been preening ...

Hi Artie,
Whenever I see a still bird, always look for preening. Like here, when they come out of preening , you can usually get a pose with feathers still fluffed. Yes, this was an oily beauty...
And Dan, These always give me that feeling with those fine feathers up top. It came close to this way off sensor(DPP SH set to 1). The ON1 sharpener I use suggested 35 on slider and I pulled all the way back to 5. I really don't like over sharpening but feel obliged to do some final sharpening for presentation. Thanks as always to all for very valued inputs. Always learned from.
Peace,
David

David, I mentioned the preening because I am not a fan of the white fluff on the end of the bill.

Sweet light and background. Framing is spot on as well. Love that red eye.
