Default Common Goldeneye with waterlogged 1.4x III

Not B-Sump level COGO action, but what I think is a pleasing low-angle view of this striking waterfowl. Always a challenging exposure in bright sun!

As for the TC, I dropped it into a lake Tuesday without either cap on. It fully submerged, and I spent five minutes shaking water out of the
circuitry. I sprinted home, threw it into a bag of rice, and tested it for function yesterday. It appeared to be working, so I took it out for a
formal shoot ahead my ten-day road trip to Albuquerque. BOOM! I think it works even better now!

I'll me making my first trip to Bosque, so any and all advice from those who've been before is appreciated. Totally up for a phone conversation
if you wanna go that route versus doing hella typing.

Processed in LR CC without trickery. He's long and low, so I went 16x10.

Nice angle, it could be a tad sharper...
I have been to Bosque twice but in November both times so can't comment on winter conditions there...
There is a lot of area and this time of year you can shoot most of the day.
The light is great, New Mexico is wonderful, explore areas outside Bosque, just beautiful high lonesome....
I am sure regulars can give more specific advice.
The main Crane ponds are overrated, I found the best areas just driving around, looking for light,
Birds are everywhere when I have been there.
There are Roadrunners, Coyotes, Harriers, dont get focused on Cranes and Geese, they are everywhere.
Have a good time. Albuquerque is nice, Socorro is a strip mall sort of, it will be Cold....
Magdalena is a treat, if you want a short day trip west to a really nice little town to get
a feel for rural Beautiful old west that has not been strip malled.....

Funny you mention the sharpening. I mixed up my usual flow within LR to try something new. Good to know how it looked, cheers.
    And Bosque advice helpful, thanks.

    Beautiful Low angle.

I can provide more info on Bosque.

I guess this year may not be the best time based on the blog posts written by Artie.

Let me know we can have a conversation.

    Thanks

My god! I would have protested dramatically if you told me that you put any camera equipment in a bag of rice haha. I suffered a similar experience with equipment submerged in water this summer so I read up on everything there was on how to fix it. A bag of rice seems to be considered worse than water (as long as it is not salt water) as the small dust from rice can be impossible to remove completely. But it seems like you got away with one if it works now. I would recommend handing it in for a service cleaning though.

Anyway, to the image. Nice one! I like this duck in blue water, I think it compliments the black/white plumage nicely. Great exposure, low shooting angle and comp.
I wish for a small head turn so that you got the green shimmer on the right side of the head too. Sharpness looks fine for me.

Lovely Goldeneye Dorian, i like your choice of crop. POV rocks, and smooth water is so nice... Check out the visitor center where the quail hangout, eventually if not out of the brush they will be seen if you walk around and listen for em... also white crowned sparrows and other passerines there... have a bosque blast! Get those pintails in flight!

Hi Dorian .... a great super low angle .
    As said before ... a real `Dorian frame `

Nice deep colors and perfect comp ... if this was mine , I might add 0,2 exp and a slight toning down of the highlights due to the exposure lift .

Dorian, I think it's beautifu... errr, rather handsome, man!

Silky smooth water rocks and getting the nice iridescent head with a pop of yellow comes across nicely.

You can sure tell he's been fishing.

Andreas' suggestion might help a little. Nice work man.

A beauty. Nice call on the crop. The low angle is right on. Maybe i should wash my gear in the lake. The whites look very nice. Good detail in them. The beaded up water on the back is nice as well.
