A bit different for an egret image. A grab-shot too, as it unexpectedly flew in front of the forest across the lake. I was pretty happy with it. An odd one though, as NR to the BG created an unfavorable result so I left the noise in. Perhaps I'll create a version with a smaller dose of it than usual but I like the "texture" here. Or try Topaz
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure , evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop bottom and right to help the comp.
Super cool image, and I think you made the right decision to leave the noise; it imparts a very painterly quality. Wide crop is money. A rare example where I think more head turn would hurt. It has a passive/peaceful feel
without direct eye contact.
Daniel, I love this frame but namely because this 'large' Egret gives way to the giant forest behind. It is about perspective and this one turned out fantastic!
Further, in a frame like this I hope we don't get too far into the weeds on whether the bird is past or not or wing position because for me anyway, it's moot here. The subject is merely a passer by...
Love this.
Great colors and I love the way the dark tones move into bright gorgeous yellows at the top.
I might consider lightening the tree behind the bird (or even cloning it out) but still a terrific frame as is.
Well done,
Gail
The painterly background is superb. The wing position? Not so much ...
with love, artie
