Nice light indeed, resulting in beautiful warm tones in the colours.

Seriously nice light, and the bird looks really intense! Bird's angle let you get away with the slight side lighting from left. Feather detail looks very good. Lower would make it more dramatic, but that's my personal obsession!

Hi Dorian, thank you for viewing and commenting. Regarding a lower point of view... Although I am blessed with good health at 77 years old, it is difficult. Also I am not a big fan of a image the has a band of really out of focus foreground, then a band of in focus bird, and another band of really out of focus background. I prefer using the depth of field to have the foreground lead into the subject and the background lead away from the subject. Just me, thanks again for commenting.

I prefer a low perspective too, however I can't agree more when I read your comment "...I am not a big fan of a image the has a band of really out of focus foreground, then a band of in focus bird, and another band of really out of focus background." It's a nit of mine too. Nice, intense expression that you've captured on this heron.

A little blue in some nice blue water, what's not to like? The light is very nice. Framing is right on.
