Not Bond, but yeah, Goldeneye. Nice series with this Drake as it flew up the river.

    Canon R5
    600mm (bare)
    Handheld
    ISO 1600
    f7.1

LR and PS. Mild DN, brushed in several areas. Smoothed a couple wake lines and water drops in the water as well as a few small bright specs on the subject's head.

Another very hard to expose stunner, Great light, killer water BG, EXP and details. Very minor nit, wish the shadows on head were less blocked. Sublime canvas overall. TFS

Sweet shot. Great flight angle and wing position. Lovely light and BG. It's fun to watch these guys float down the river, fishing along the way, and then fly back up to do it again. I just wish we had some of them around here.

Hi Brian, excellent wing position, and I really like the exposure on the head which has brought out the green sheen nicely. Overall sharp, and yes to the 'golden' eye. Well captured.

Lovely shot Brian.....Great flight pose and nicely exposed...I've been photographing these beauties for the past couple of weeks, they have arrived from Scandinavia to my local harbour. You did real good here...not an easy bird in flight as they are small and as fast as 'bullets'...The exposure can be tricky, as can the sheen on the head...very well done, I think this shot gives you a License to Thrill .... My ones, so far are more like 005 and a half, compared to this.

    Great work

Hi Brian ... very very nice work !!!
Very good timing and a perfect comp .

I am just guessing .... if you have used the Nik Detail extractor , I personally would avoid the use of the filter . The whites make me think it might have been used ....

The image leaves me shaken, not stirred. Wonderful. I suppose an even smoother BG would have been tops, but with the perfect wing position, neatly tucked in feet, and super sharp face that is secondary in this case. These guys have just showed up to spend the winter over here - hope to get some more good stuff with them!

Wow! Love the light, the wing position and sharpness.
Not super crazy about the BG but it is what it is. I would be so stoked to ahve this in my portfolio. They are bullets so kudos on your technical abilities!

Thank you everyone for your gracious comments. My spirits are certainly uplifted!

Oh, and the Bond allusions are warmly appreciated too :-)

No sir, I stopped using Nik a couple weeks ago after I go lambasted lol.

No real trickery on the colors - this is the first time I started with "Adobe Standard" color profile in LR versus "Adobe Color" because I felt it suited the frame better. Normal LR adjustments then a couple color/hue and sat adjustments with a "mids" luminosity adj layer as well as a normal luminosity adj layer focusing on overall brightness.

Pose is fantastic, and the detail is pretty outrageous. No shadows on the subject is always a recipe for success. Yeah, a smoother BG would be ideal, but the bird is so well lit and detailed it demands maximum attention as is. Bravo.

Hey Brian good to hear that you moved from the " no brainer " NIK software stuff , from my POV
I am not a LR /ACR supporter , just think as a personal pref I would rather use `Camera Neutral or Faithful`as a starting point .... instead of Adobe profiles .

    Cheers Andreas

Gorgeous flight frame. Spot on all around. The downstroke and the light are great. Really like the water in the background as well.
