    Default Comb-crested Jacana

Spent a few hours at the lake at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, one of my go to locations near my house. I've never seen a Jacana there before, so I was surprised when I spotted this one on the water. I managed a few shots before it took off, disappointingly away from me, before landing quite away in the distance.

D500/500PF. 1/3200th sec, f5.6, iso800, manual mode HH. processed in ACR & PS. Noise reduction/sharpening applied. Cheers

Good self-critique Paul. Plus the flower directly beneath the bill is bad luck. On the positive, the bird (which very beautiful BTW) is sharp where it needs to be so you you did get a good "bird-in-flight" practice round out of it. Those feet!

Very cool to even get a flight image on this beauty. Looks nice and sharp not to mention colorful. You'll get that pose next time. TFS

Killer interesting bird and sharp on the eye. I like it a lot for its uniqueness but wish as you do that the bird had been flying towards you.

A fine shot Paul the jacana looks good, some blacks look rather sooty to me. I would be tempted to reduce contrast a little in the background to make it less dominant.

Great bird! Self-critique is spot on. And while the BG shows the habitat nicely, I agree it's a bit distracting. Terrific find nonetheless.
