I spent several mornings at this location and this Great Blue Heron became rather predictable. He would fly in around 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM and squaak loudly as he arrived which always gave me a few seconds to acquire focus.
This is the same GBH as I posted a couple of weeks ago but on a different day and later in the morning..
    Canon 1 Dx 3 600mm and 1.4 x
    ISO 640 F 8.0 SS 1/2500
PP: Crop to 80% FF. Nothing added or cloned.
I did select the BG only and reduced the exposure by 0.25 to make the colors a bit more dramatic.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
    Gail

Very nice Gail...and the title suits the frame perfectly....Lovely colours throughout..The different BG colours reflecting is nice. Cool pose with nice detail. And the trailing foot is the finishing touch.

    Gail:

Beautifully framed, dragging toe, wing spread, angle in frame, all good!

I might consider softening further the two dark vertical lines right in front of the bill.

One of my favorite GBH shots!

    Cheers

Gail, this is just fantastic. Great title too :-)

The watercolor bkg suits this beautiful with the perfect light. Toe drag..... yes please.

Randy's suggestions on the dark lines would be worthwhile to make IMO.

Congrats, you did this GBH honor!

The overall mood, the pose and the framing... Sweet perfection... The environmental BG is super for me as this beauty and the light/shadows on same makes this subject pop and the natural light helps my eyes come to rest right where you want. Well seen and executed IMHO. TFS

Like this toe dragging flight capture, Gail. Beautiful dark water, and nice ripple reflections on the feathers.

I only usually see the egrets performing a toe-drag, so this is a treat seeing a GBH doing it too! I love the water reflecting under the wings. Very cool frame.
