Ooh...I like this...a lot!
Perfect wing position and perfectly parallel to the sensor.
The cream rump feathers are perfect- so many people blow out this area and viewers think the color is white.
BG colors compliment the pintail perfectly.
Is this a big crop? I ask because the IQ is good but not great like the last duck.I notice it more in the head. Maybe,it is due to 2 X converter.
A wonderful frame,
Gail

Well done Brian...this is looking real good...I love the different shades of brown throughout the frame. Good detail and nice flight pose...
Good work.
I am also curious of the crop size or is it due to the 2x convertor....The reason I ask, is that I would be using the 2x on my f/4 400 DO...How did you find tracking the bird and locking on...

Sweet frame. Perfect wings-down flight pose, gorgeous light, lovely BG. Winner of the 'most elegant duck' contest. Nicely done.

Gail, appreciate the positive comments. This one is about 60% crop, so there is some small loss in IQ. The full res file at 3500 pix looks better as expected.

Will much apprecaited. I don't find there to be much discernible loss with the 2.0x. Still dialing in the panning process and if I get too far behind sometimes it will grab the tail or rump as an AF point. If you lock and pan properly you will have a hard time losing the shot.
Most of what I've posted recently is with the 2x. The Green-winged teal was about 65% crop and the Gadwall hen was only about 10% crop. Still battling some atmospheric distortion at water level with the 2x especially, sometimes the 1.4 as well. I think it may be more prevalent at high elevation.
