    Default White-crowned Sparrow Stand-off.

    My favorite sparrow species, and this one is really showing of its way-cool striped crown! Either that, or it's daring anyone to go past this point, ha! A seed offering was placed directly below the frame to encourage subjects onto the perch(es).

    Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure , evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, about 85% FF, toned down shiny middle-part of the perch via burn tool.

    Killer BG and pose are awesome. This is one where centered (and perhaps vertical) would also work well. TFS

    I love this pose and the great view of the white crown. Perfect for a textbook image!
    IQ is excellent, BG lovely and I like the slightly off center crop. Would also look great as a vertical if you have enough pixels.
    A perfectly centered head position ( ie. head cocked a bit more to our right) would have been wonderful but still excellent as is!

    Daniel, very cool pose and perch. Head and eye tack sharp.

    Pretty solid for ISO 8700 ;-) Guess 800? Maybe if you were to reach higher another stop of dof would help get that other foot and perch fully IF.

    As is though, a fun frame and agree with Gail that a more direct stare or more offset could only help.

    TFS.

    Great capture, Daniel. Like the way he's perched, and I kinda like the slight stare past you. Wonderful detail.

    Daniel;

    Even the thumbnail made me smile. Fun pose. I agree about trying a vertical, to really play up the perch and pose.
