David. You did well to get this under those conditions. Exposure looks good as is the bird's pose. Ideally I'd like a more eye level view and a little more sharpness on the head area. The BG is a little too distracting for me...especially the oof diagonal branch.

Bird looks good but BG a bit busy.
DOF is good and light is nice.

I like the soft light here David, perhaps add some more selective USM on the eye. Whats inside the open beak????

Yes, it looked so good to me (I like the fine feathers to look soft) I applied no sharpening and should have applied light sharpening for presentation. It had just picked off either a small spider or fruit fly. At full resolution you can see the leg and maybe small piece of wing (thus maybe fruit fly). This was ETTR for the subject and I did apply some chrominance and luminance NR in DPP. I'm hoping it looks better than last warbler at 3200 ISO. Thanks all three for the very valued inputs.

Indeed David, that's the beauty of having a pin sharp Raw, absolutely minimal sharpening, but all Raws need it, so some selective on the eye and bingo!!!! So are you saying it's a remnants of a fruit fly as you see a semi circle from tip to tip if you get what I mean?

ETTR - Perfect.
Good move on applying CH & L, but it's a fine balancing act overall with the sliders, too much sharpening, too much L or CH, you then count balance, adding more sharpening and it all then goes pear shaped, a lot of folk just hit auto with NR and relying on it, so you did right in my book to manually do it, it's the correct way IMHO as you can hone.

Hi Eagle Eyes,
I thought you were talking about the leg sticking out. It took me a few minutes to even see what you were actually referring to. New glasses on my list... I will go back to raw but I did do some slight dodge/burn on the BG and that may be the culprit. Thanks as always for your valued and astute assistance. Check out new post for application of SH advice.
Peace,
David

The light is nice and i like the pose here. Good thinking on going vertical.
