These guys sure do put out a lot of physical effort for what is really quite a subtle (but pretty) song.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, small crop to help the composition, eye clean-up. Attracted into range with audio.

Daniel, just a beautiful frame for me.

The b&w are processed really nicely, the texture on the bark and that it's hanging on the detached piece adds interest.

Calling pose is fantastic and a great comp choice.

I opened in LR and ran a WB as it felt a touch dark/drab and was able to open up the colors and warm it nicely with eyedropper. May be worth a look.

I love the singing pose, the techs look spot on to me. My only nit is I wish you had a bit more DOF to get the feet in focus. But I know you were probably close to the limit of were you wanted your ISO and SS

A dynamic frame Daniel. Agree with all the positives already given. BG contrasts perfectly with the b&w of the bird. As to the oof feet I'm undecided: would be nice to have them in focus, but my eye is drawn to the head area, so it's not a deal breaker. Cheers.

if this was mine, I would desaturate the green in the BG slightly but minor nit.

Great pose, BG, comp. Love these active little warblers with their squeaky-hinge song. Gail has a good point about a slight desat of the green.

Calling pose makes this a very engaging image. Love the clinging pose - as this species is inclined to behave like a nuthatch - and the detail in both whites and blacks is excellent. Gotta love the flat light on these high contrast birds. That's what nice about
shooting in eastern woodlands; you can get color from the surroundings. Shooting on water most of the time, I really need sun to give my frames color.
