This female Common Merg (or I suppose could be a juvi male?) gave me some fun poses the same morning as the Pacific Loon shot, including the umistakable striking viper pose :-p

Wish for a little better light but took what I could get.

    Canon R5
    600mm + 2.0x
    Handheld
    ISO 1250
    1/1250
    f8

LR and PS. Blended a couple bright lines on the water in bkg.

Were you playing the pungi, very effective! I like head on shots and this is super cool Brian, wonderful movement in the water and the attitude, sharp and love the head feathers! something different and unique, TFS, (yeah 2.0x's and HH), thumbs up

Funny - she looks like a bowling pin! The direct stare is very nice, and the image looks really good with the 2X. Detail and exposure look good. Spray looks like she just flapped, but I imagine was too blurred at 1/1250.

Haha, I can play the clarinet and sax fairly well but probably not the Pungi

Thank you for the comments. The 2.0x holds up pretty well... this was a fairly large crop also fwiw

Dorian, much apprecaited my friend. She does look like a bowling pin, that's funny!

I have a few others on either side of the frame but yeah, at 1/1250 the shake was blurred
