    Really nice portrait.
    The detail in the eye is great.
    I like the water color and pattern (especially LLC).
    Good DOF and even though the very tip of bill is slightly OOF, it really does not take away from the image.
    Choice of crop is always a personal thing, but I would love a bit more below.
    Cool frame and I would love to get that close to a grebe!

    Lovely portrait Dan, not easy to get close to these small waders. Super details and that eye is awesome.

    Yes, the eye and the bill detail are amazing. It looks like a flash shot. Pointing the lens down an inch would have improved it. Is this a crop? If yes, how large? You might wish to repair the single displaced feather on the top of the head.
