    Default Oxpecker shower station .....

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hi folks .... another spraying giraffe .
Image taken in Nxai Pan NP of Botswana in 2018 .
Temperatures around 36 - 42 degrees celsius .... would have liked to have better light , but mother nature gave me the option to shoot during the hottest time of the day .
Due to the heat haze and the long lens , the IQ is not 100 % .... but think not necessary because it also documents the harsh conditions the animals are living in .

Super shot Andreas, loving the oxpecker and the spray. There must be enormous strain on the joints in those legs, I always wonder how their knees survive! Colours look good though I would perhaps consider a little teeny weeny richer colouration the giraffe.

Well it looks hot just looking at this one. I like the water trail off the mouth. I guess that bird wanted a shower. Detail looks nice.

What a frame Andreas , Loved it.

I specifically liked the moment, swirling water, bird trying to navigate through it, the pose of Giraffe with its legs acting as a duo pod, so many elements in there.

Liked the muted colours of the landscape, and the colours in your subject looks spot on.

My only reservation is the that tree intersecting the Giraffes head, not sure what you could have done to eliminate it apart from moving yourself but then the Giraffe would have become more side on or frontal.

A wonderful frame nonetheless, TFS !

    Hello Andreas,

Your image is a good reflection of this particular ecosystem... arid soil, heat haze, animals quenching their thirst in scorching heat, even the pale colouring of the giraffe

Techs look good and composition is spot-on, you also managed to separate the subject well from the BG. Love the little oxpecker, nice touch!

Quite an art to manage FP in the right spot when giraffes drink as they tend to shake their heads and close their eyes a lot...So very well done on this one!

Thank you so much for sharing, I really enjoyed viewing

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

A lovely behaviour shot of the Giraffe with water swoosh and the oxpecker adding lot of interest. Nice frontal view with habitat well depicted Andreas. T F S

Thanks folks for your kind comments , much appreciated .

Jon - i can push the giraffe in terms of color and tone , but think it does fit the scene well IMHO .

Haseeb - no choice of a different angle , so i had to live with the trees intersecting the subject . I was not alone in the car and other cars around that waterhole .... you might know what that means , plus the giraffe did not listen to me to move

Gabriela - regarding focus , easy task ... manually set the focal point , fire the shutter ....and hope for the best LOL !!! In this case it worked

    Cheers andreas

It's different, nice work, like the 'S' of the water and O Px.
