Taken the same day as the Palm Warbler I posted previously. A fun explosion of fall colours for the warblers! It was also neat to have them forage down low at eye-level.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, about 80% FF, cleaned up the eye, and patched a couple of imperfections on the leaves.
This is a really beautiful look at this bird. We don't have fall in California, so I'm envious of the foliage in this frame. Focus on the eye is great and creates a nice fall-off effect across the body. This is one of the few times when I don't think a clean background would have helped the image - at all. Noise levels look great; being close helps!
