Surely not the appropriate scientific name. But really, a shocker to capture a Pacific Loon in Denver any time of year. I heard reports and was able to see it for myself. Believe this is a non-breeding plumage specimen (?).

First go with the 2.0x and shot in crop mode as well.

Feedback welcome as always; tried to process as close to taxonomical images I've seen on the web since I've never seen a Loon in person.

    Canon R5
    600mm + 2.0x
    Handheld
    ISO 1250
    1/800
    f8

LR and PS, DN. Touched two tiny spots in water.

A very nice shot with super low angle and detail! Nicely exposed and good to see the 2X in use here. Good techs too Brian.

Wesley, Amazing bird for CO, beautiful image design and signature, impeccable designed, and nice use of the 2X. Will next be some Arash-like HH flight images???

I think that brightening the face a bit might improve this already excellent image.

    with love, artie

    ps: where was the bird???

Brian saw it early on the Co site. Beautiful well done. What captured my attention early on was the nice soft light and colors of the water.Nice low angle,Ha.TFS

Wow, great bird! Must be attracting crowds out there. Excellent image as well - the detail is perfect and I love the plumage with the lightly coloured feather tips. I do feel that a slight crop to just above your signature may strengthen the comp, but apart form that two thumbs up!!

I can see that benefitting, thank you Artie.

This was at Chatfield reservoir in south Denver.

Yes, many more bif to come - it looks like you saw the Cormorant? Still haven't used my RRS Tripod and Flex Shooter yet.... probably will if I can build a blind for winter shooting.

Daniel, thank you. Great point; I think I settled here as the most aesthetically pleasing fit in a 2x3 comp but did not consider a landscape crop. That certainly could enhance it!
