I found these little mushrooms growing on my rotten wood pile in the back garden, hopefully more will develop and offer further opportunities.

The musrooms are nice and sharp. Neat to see the mycelium on the log. Neat how the stalks bend. Did you flip this log up to take this frame?

Hi Jon, looks like a bit of a green cast overall, WDYT? In parts it might be a little OTT, but on the MBP...

It was just a small log John so yes I could orientate as I wished.

Steve now you mention it I do sense a bit of a cast, I make life easy by making a set up in the conservatory so I can orientate the log and set up a tripod for convenience and rigidity. The trouble is the glass windows in the conservatory are tinted so I end up modifying the white balance/Colour Temp and I don't always find it simple. When I see the point you made about green I do see it but alas it didn't seem green at the time.

Then use a grey card Jon, sorts out the WB, however inappropriate for Wildlife.

I usually do Steve, when working in the conservatory, I have three swatches black white and grey... and I forgot to use them!!

    Hello John,

Love the detail here and framing works well.

Those little mushrooms make me think of two umbrellas blown by the wind

I also like the bent stalks as well as tiny roots, very cool capture!

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Love this image. Looks better after removing the color cast. Great details and the bend stems make it a great image.

  11. Thanks Jonathan Ashton thanked for this post
