I captured this one a couple of months ago...These small birds are summer migrants to Scotland from their wintering grounds in Africa...They are quite rare in my neck of the woods, so was happy to have captured this one. I also have it perched on a moss covered post, but kinda liked the rusted barbed wire. Comparing it to the wire fence, shows just how small they are. Handheld. ACR and PS2020

Rusty barb wire is one of my fave man made perches. Great complimentary BG and nice and sharp to my eye. A little off the top and right sides might be stronger. Love this simple canvas as is though. TFS\

Love the choice of landing place (right on a barb) and the grasp...

Hi Will, sure is a tiny bird, lovely capture and interesting with insect and the barbed rusty wire. I too am a fan of RBW. Exposure and details all against a clean BG makes this whinchat a whinner!

A lovely image with the prey item being a bonus Will. I am not too fond of wired perches but this one has character ! Nicely done.

Will, congrats on getting this seemingly rare species my friend!

Very very sharp on the bird. Looks like you pushed it just about as far as one could. Did you add a little extra around the eye with brush?

I'm sort of indifferent on barbed wire, but rust definitely adds here. Dinner in the mouth with a nice head angle make this one.

Only other suggestion might be if you wanted to add a touch of warmth, I think it might help.

    TFS!

That's a corker Will, super details and colours, a pleasure to see, not a common site for me down here.

Outstanding capture, William. Great view of this rare find for you, and super fine detail. I too really like the rusted barbed wire perch. Added bonus dining on an insect.

Congrats on getting an unusual bird for your area. Great pose, and the bug adds extra fun. Gorgeous background. It does look as if you might have done a bit of extra sharpening around the eye.

    Very nice!
Love the bug in the mouth and the rust on the barbed wire "saves" the perch.
Nice clean BG. I am seeing some magenta smudges to the right of the bird. What is it? OOF vegetation?
