    Default Rhino Charge !

Hello everyone. Thank you for your comments and suggestions to my previous post, as always much appreciated.

Posting an image from my last trip before the pandemic. It was from North East India, the home to Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. This creature is absolute bulk and power. They can give you a charge anytime, its difficult to make whether it is a mock charge or the tank will actually collide. But to see them up-close is an absolute thrill. They are massive and their armour plated hide makes them appear pre-historic.

Coming to the image, I managed this shot by using a wide angle lens and stooped from the open vehicle to get an eye level perspective , but things happened quite fast and there was too much excitement in the vehicle , but nonetheless, managed to squeeze out this frame.

DPP 4.12, PSCC 2020, WB, Curves, selective colour, Sharpened the subject, cropped from the top and Lhs.

Canon 1DX MK II, Canon 24-105mm IS II, HH.

    ss 1/250, f/5.6, iso 8000.

Looking forward for your comments, be it of any nature.

    Haseeb.

My first thought was you were close to this rhino. But at least from a vehicle. Nice to see the setting.

Hi Haseeb ... you have been very brave , my friend !!!!
These things can become very nasty , when being angry .

I really like the POV and the overall scene , you done very well under the given shooting situation !!!!
For sure some edits can be made to make the rhino stand out more , but your call .

    Nice and unusual image !!

    TFS Andreas

Wow Haseeb, it's a stunning shot! I like the low POW and the extended right front foot, it conveys the sens of movement. The picture to me its well composed, since the charging is framed by the tree on the right side and the stump on the left. He indeed looks like a relict from the past.

A thrilling experience am sure Haseeb. Love the POV and the habitat too. Nicely composed and good colors. These Rhinos are so different from the African ones! Nice one.

Hi Haseeb, great encounter and well done under the circumstances. Where did he stop, or did you move on, out of the way?

Colour looks good, perhaps a slight darkening of the FG? Can see a 10x8 too.

Will try and see that crop suggestion.

@ Andreas -- What do you suggest for further enhancing the Rhino ?

    Hello Haseeb,

May I please have a photo of that dent in the game viewer

Just kidding! Nicely captured, and what I like here most is this sense of speed and urgency from the subject. In fact I like a lot of things here, like the environment with those lovely trees in the BG and the carpet of leaves in the FG, and also POV (especially under the circumstances you describe).

Composition is great and surely cropping from the top was a good idea, IMO it helped with perspective. Maybe try a version with more at the top as well, see what it's like?

Overall an interesting frame with a dynamic effect, love the 'tension' I perceive when viewing, certainly a winner in my books - very well done

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Haseeb ... i see two options for making the rhino pop more .

Just going darker in the subject or the surroundings , like Steve suggested darkening the FG .... but I would go further than the FG only .
Easy task and can be done with one version , just use layers and turn them on and off to see what does look better .

    Cheers Andreas
