I never thought I'd get a "grab shot" of this species, even if perched, but that is exactly what happened here. I was scouting for some fall warblers when this individual landed right where you see it, as if curious of my presence. I was even able to move a foot or two to my right for better BG colours. After about ten seconds(!) it flew off. Thank you very much!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3 (don't ask, must have accidentally knocked it one click, but it didn't hurt), ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, small crop to improve size of subject in the frame (about 75% FF).

A nice little blessing Daniel. Sometimes we do find favor in the Avian kingdom and this one treated you well!

The greens work nicely together here. The little lichen touches on the branch add just enough to create interest.

    Pretty frame on all accounts.

Stone cold perfection always works for me. Another Cadieux gem. How about the male on the same perch with the gorget lit up?

I am not positive in whether this is a juvie or not. It certainly acted somewhat naīve!
