    Default Black-necked Stilt

    Attached Images Attached Images

Shot this stilt back in June in a slough from floatable blind in Nd. These are hard to shoot from the blind with the water only inches deep. We are in a drought this summer. Sloughs dried up quickly. Even harder in vertical format bent over on your knees in the muck in the blind miss lots of shots. I have a Wimberly head mounted so maybe a total of twelve inches high Processed with Dpp 4,Photoshop Pretty much full frame took some off the top and bottom just redistributed same for the sides.Took off some highlights on the legs and reflection. I do see a halo back on the tail. Thanks for comments and critiques.

nice frame Kevin I like the warm light and the raised foot. you got the red eye which is key to stilt images. It's a bit too tight for me and personally I'd get rid of the reflection since it is blurry and just focus on the bird

Beautiful Kevin, would like to see it horizontal to show more habitat. Gorgeous popping red eye, very nice!

Agree about the tightness. But everything else is top notch.

Really pretty Kevin. Water color and transition to bkg are pretty. The pink legs and red eye always pop on these and you also got the 'right' stride.

Good suggestions on the cropping. I'd probably like to keep the reflection personally, just open it up more top and right depending on how much canvas you have.

My only issue here is that it is quite tight in the frame, as already mentioned. A looser crop, including leaving the reflection in, would be great. Great looking eye, and I love the details on the wing.

As per the comments above, do you have more room in front of the bird?

    with love, a

ps: I like the reflection and the sharpness, light, bird, and raised foot pose are all excellent.

Nice (mandatory) eye, plus I like the raised foot showing the toenail. Kinda tight crop but the bird looks nice.
