    Another from 2014 that I don't believe I've posted before. We had a very productive time on that day in early June, with several of these flighty guys giving us poses in a variety of settings. I'm posting this at 1500px wide, making him appear about 35% larger than full-size, breaking one of my own rules.

    D7000, 500f4 + 1.4 TC, ISO 1000, 1/800s @ f/6.3 manual.

    I like the pose on the bird. Nice how the bird is framed by those leaves. The mottled background gives a nice sense of the setting.

    A totally natural look at this striking bird. Bird is wonderfully sharp, and I think I can live with foliage even though it's starting to constrict the bird. Love the bird's stare; it's super engaging and really carries the shot.
