Here's another form the same general area that I took a few days later. Although they often came down the the mulleins to feed, they rarely stood right atop of them, so when this gorgeous individual did so I was more than thrilled with the opportunity. I like this one even more then the previous one :-)

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, filled in some shadows via dodge (and then sponge to retain the colour), minor eye work, a few flecks removed from the4 mullein (spot removal)

This is outstanding. Everything - exp, details, pose, BG, perch - looks great. Eye contact is killer. Envious of this one....

Love it Daniel. Perpendicular subject gives focus across the whole body, which is very sharp. Top perches on Mullein are one of my faves. That warm, if not mysterious bkg gradient works fantastically.

    TFS!

Super capture, Daniel. Equally as great as 1st. in series, and I like the gradation of color in the background also.

Agreed. Even better than the last one. Great pose, gradation of background. Love it.
