There were quite a few individuals of this species loving what the mullein stalks were offering, so it was a pleasure just waiting for them to stage in low bushes around them, and then onto them. Also fun was to observe the plumage variations - it seemed like no two Cape Mays were the same....with this one being a rather pale yellow.

I think you needed some more DOF to make this work well..you must have been close, maybe too close...

Nice frame. I like the background and the pose. I would add more sharpening to the bird.

    Daniel:

The colours, pose, perch, all very nice. Yes, a bit more DOF would have been nice to get the entire stalk in the DOF. re: sharpening on the bird - I could see a bit more.

Like the way you captured this beauty, Daniel. The pose is wonderful, and the Mullein plant works nicely. Love the soft light, and the background greens.

I like the composition and the complimentary colours, the pose is good. The eyes and toes are sharp so the DOF is OK for me.
I would have perhaps brightened the eye a little less and looked at the luminance on the lores.

Love the comp and pose, and the muted colors of this fall Cape May. DOF noted.

Really engaging frame! I so jealous of you guys and your muellin; we have no such facilitative perches here in California. These things are as good as set-up! Yeah more DOF would be good, but it's still a very strong frame of a bird and plumage we don't see often.

The title is great. The pose is very nice. I like how the feet grip that mullein. A nice background as well.
