WTK - The Eye

Out at a local Regional Park yesterday. Pair of WTK often there but obscured by branches. This one gave me a little love.

Jay, personally I really like this frame. The whites are true whites and there is some nice detail in them. Very sharp, esp in the face and the eye really draws you in.

And that bkg.... man, heck yes!

It might be worth processing one version with the perch starting out more toward the lower right corner depending on what canvas you have to work with.

Jelly of this species, stoked for you though! Any flight shots? Are you in the area where they're capturing the food drop to the younger ones?

pretty coll stuff, wish the shaded parts were fully lit, especially where he is holding the perch and parts of the tail. I'd sharpen the chest feathers a bit more to eek out a touch more detail there

Brian - thanks for the comments. I do have a few shots and have processed them with the perch more to the corner.... the works too.... just wanted to try mixing up my framing a bit...
Sadly, not food drops that I've seen.... and ask I've NEVER seen little lone shot them... I'd sure love for it to happen. Will keep watching...

Arash - yes, CHRP... in the trees by the first gravel parking lot... most late afternoons. Skittish. Only one break in the trees to get a clear shot when they're there. :(

A nice view of this kite. I like the pose and the background is very nice. It would be nice to see the bird more to the right side of the frame.

Very nice look at this skittish species. Shadow on the feet is a bummer but relatively minor. My biggest issue is that the bird is in (and looking) into the short side of the frame. That makes for a very awkward composition. I would completely revisit the crop. Subtract at right, add at left, and maybe loosen some. The frame is so clean that loosening isn't going to hurt.

I love it overall, but my two main points have been addressed (shadows on the talons, and composition). Great BG, good light, beautiful featehrs on the chest and belly - they look so soft (in a good way).

My thinking in going left was to move the focal point of the face (the eye) more to the center of the frame while not having the big itself be central. I was viewing the birds angle of view as more head on that far left. But... here's the edit. Better?
