I have been fortunate to have seen these one day old Wood Duck chicks leave the safety of their home and leap into the world on three different occasions, once in 2004 and twice in 2014. It is one of the most exciting events I have ever witnessed in nature. I captured the entire sequence, from mom sticking her head in the box to tell her brood that its time to go until she swims off with all nine of them two separate times. The third time I decided to video it. Unfortunately that box was much further away. My only regret looking back on it is that I wish I had my new Sony to track them better when they jumped but I am satisfied just to have seen it, let alone photograph it.C and C welcome.

    Hi Jerry,
This image is all about your wonderful experience.
Unfortunately, the chick is soft and the light quite harsh,
    Gail
