Blue-winged Teals In Non-breeding Plumage Are Rather Drab........
.......except when they spread open their wings! I don't often press the shutter when the subject is looking away, let alone when no eyes are visible, but here is one instance where it was well worth it IMO.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp after some image rotation, a few bits of vegetation eliminated, highlights on the wings toned down.
Ditto all of the many positives above. Times two. As expected.
