    Default Florida Burrowing Owl

    Attached Images Attached Images

This image was captured along Trilby Road in Pasco County, Florida. I hope the fencepost will show how tiny these owls are, the top of the fencepost is about four inches across. I captured the image in March of this year but worked it up today. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

hi Joe I really like the colors and the setting for the owl... The green eyes really draw me in, purplesoof in the FG are super... Love the barbed wire . All in all its a pretty frame.

These cuties always put a smile on my face. Like the composition and the three bands of background color. Also like that you've kept the owl relatively small in the frame.

Love the flowers and the colors and the bird but the horizon line is a killer. You needed to get about a foot taller ...

Hey Artie, thank you for viewing and commenting, much appreciated. I was standing along the side of the road and the owl and fencepost were uphill from me. I tried everything I could do to avoid the horizon line in the field, tiptoes wasn't high enough. Here I grew a foot taller.

The blue sky is overpowering in the original, and the clone job really saved the image IMO. I understand the loose crop to include the pink, but it means you also keep a lot of post and wire. It's a trade-off (and why I always avoid fences!). The bird does look good though. Nice direct stare!

Nice edit. I'd also remove the orange something or other on the fence and clean up the poop, but that's just me. Love seeing these guys standing up... those twenny undersized legs are a hoot. TFS.

Much prefer the OP Joe, but agree with Artie on being a tad higher. Not sure if the post should be vertical or as portrayed, at a jaunty angle???

Here is a edit where I raised the crest of the pasture a little so the owl would fall in the green but kept the sky. WDYT?

I like it. The colors in the background are very pleasing to the eye. The owl gave you a nice pose. Also like the barbed wire.
