Another frame from my time with the Ospreys...I liked the 'wing drag' on this one which split the primaries, as the bird powerfully lifted from the water, after being dragged partially under by the trout.

The wing drag is great here Will, but the overall look to the frame is too misty in my opinion. I don't know if you can bring out a little more contrast but I think it'll help

Hi Mike....Thanks for that, This was one of the early shots, before the sun started clearing the mist....I've added contrast globally here...any better.

I like the way the wingtip hits the water and the splash and the droplets in the air. To me the mist gives it a dreamy look which I like a lot.

Hi Will, I think there is a slight improvement, but as much as I like the pose, the mist isn't working as well as on the last shot that I really liked. I've had a play on the laptop with dehaze in Lightroom and curves and I think it looks better, maybe worth another go, see what others say

Will, wingtip touches are usually showstoppers. The post here is no exception.

Mike's point resonates with me. This one has more of a hazy feel and it almost overwhelms the shot. IMO Artie's has probably gone too far, but playing around with Dehaze in LR or the Offset & Gamma under the Exposure adj layer in PS might find a good middle ground.

Emotion invoked by your capture for sure!

I can hear the morning peace, feel the dew on my face, see the faint vegetation at water's edge and the still water reflection, now the loud splash and the sense of wonder spotting the deftness of this fish hunter. The original post works for me as the mist sets the whole mood IMHO.

    Hi Will,
Love the wing drag too, however, this frame doesn't leave me in a "haze" like the first post did, I prefer the BG here though...

Thanks guys....Critique is so important ...I suppose it's all to do with the light at the time of capture....I tried to make this as close to this as I could.
