Avocet in breeding attire from spring time.

Shot with my old Sigma 500mm. IQ is not quite that of the Nikon 600 but thought you might enjoy nonetheless.

    D500
    Sigma 500mm Sport
    Handheld
    ISO 220
    1/1600
    f4

LR and PS. Cleaned up the ground and a couple of striations in the bkg. In hindsight I would have bumped ISO and SS a bit as was not prepared well for the shot.

    This is beautiful Brian,
Love, love the light, the low POV and the grassy mud.
The exposure is perfect- whites look great.
My only issue with this image is that this stride position is my least favorite-purely personal taste issue but I prefer foot forward.
And I bet you have that exact pose 2 frames later!

I might as well copy and paste what Gail said - great positioning by yourself, lovely light and subject, but I too wish for more of a 'striding' pose

Beautiful........Love the colours throughout....POV, pose, BG all good. Lovely 'soft' details on the bird. If anything, I would try lightening up the ground a wee bit.

I love all the "earthy" tones, and a nice carpet for the avocet to strut on. The very subtle head angle towards us is excellent. Great light too. IQ is a non-issue here posted for web, but I suppose you have the full-size version to compare with.

Gail & Mike - Ha, never knew it was a thing. Great suggestion, I'll have to pay more attention to the strut vs stride :-)
Will - I see it now. Great point!
Daniel the maniel - For sure. I can tell, most probably can't

    Thanks for the thoughts.

Nice light and angle. Equipment is overated as shown here.
A $4000 lens vs. a $10,000 lens and the difference is minuscule...
