Friendly, almost fledged chick, interrupts preening to give me this look back.

Hi David, one of my favorite birds. Nice look at the head and eye. The depth of field falls off pretty quickly on the back, F/2.8 doesn't give you much if you are close. The whites could be lowered, the whites on the head are in the mid to high 240's and on the back they are clipping. That will also darken the background a bit. Most time in Lightroom on a bird with this much white I run up the white slider to see what is near clipping and then burn those areas. Then reset the whites to a level between 230 to 240. Thank you for sharing.

Good close up view of the bird, I like the shallow DOF it keeps me concentrating on the head and neck - which is what I guess you wanted.

I like the pose and the framing. I could see the image warmed up some.

    Good portrait
I am OK with the back being OOF but would sharpen the eye area a bit more.
You got away with that aperture in that the tip of the bill is sharp. Ideally, you would have been at F 6.2 or 7.1. You had wiggle room with the ISO.
