    Default Purple Sandpiper from 2013

I reworked this shot from my Boston years for another project I'm working on and decided to post it here since I liked the result. It was 10F, so this guy was all fluffed
up. Amazing how durable this superficially tender bird is......

I haven't taken a single photo in 6 weeks. Between a lack of birds, and many photographers crammed into a few local spots, this time of year sucks without travel.

f/10 was to try to get both feet in focus, but not sure why I couldn't!

Beautiful water BG, perch, details and colors. Could go a tad brighter but love it as is. TFS

It does my heart good to see one of these little birds, I haven't seen one locally for a couple of years. I quite like the composition but I would agree it seems a little heavy lifting up the darker tones would help I feel, possibly warming a little too.

    Dorian:

I like the color palette with the blues playing against the browns and oranges in the plumage. I tend to like my images slightly darker than some, so am happy with yours as posted, but do see what David and Jon are saying.

Always fun to rework an older image to see how technology and our tastes change over time.

    Cheers

A lovely fluffed-up winter pose, great eye level POV and beautiful background. I'm OK with the brightness, although I suppose the whites could be slightly brighter. Funny thing: I was just working on a Purple Sandpiper frame from Barnegat (2016) as part of my ongoing file cleanup. Jonathan's comment about warming made me take a second look at mine, which is much cooler than this. So I warmed mine up a bit, but I'm not sure yours should be any warmer than posted. The purplish feather tones are showing very nicely.

Thanks for the feedback! My processing eyes aren't sharp after so much time off! Here's a boosted version, as per suggestions....

I like the rework. The lovely blue and golden/orange tones of the feathers really pair up nicely. TFS.

Perfecto and shows the details and tones on this beauty even better(if that's possible). What a stunner! (So, what's new) TFS

I prefer the rework. A solid image on feather detail, the blue water looks great with the highlights suggesting movement. Sorry to hear no images in 6 weeks.

Dorian, very well captured. Super detail and agreed, the super blue water is a great contrast. Lighting is lovely and a hint of iridescence on the wing feathers does a lot here.

I could probably have gone either way but would choose the latter side-by-side.

    TFS!

The second one for me.....Love the contrast and those colours throughout the image. Beautiful detail. I would leave some more at the bottom, I get the impression that we are looking down on the bird....An optical illusion, probably caused by the shape of the perch and the HA.

    Nice work

Very nice all around. Lovely light and background. The bird looks great fluffed up like that.
