    Default Tri-colored Heron

Another view of the accommodating Tri-colored Heron at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. I moved a little closer than the image in my previous post, to the water's edge with a watchful eye for a lurking alligator. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Challenging light you handled fairly well. Love the BG and framing. TFS

I like the pose and sharpness. The light was not ideal.

David and Robert, thank you for viewing and commenting, much appreciated. I know there are two shadow areas on the image, cannot do much about it. It was a clear day in Florida at 7:24 in the morning, about a half hour after sunrise. I was limited in where I could move to get on a better light angle. Thanks again for looking.

Joe, I love the subject and its' colours, as well as the BG, but I have to say that the face is soft and seemingly suffering from subject movement, especially the eye and up to the top of the head.

Hi Dan, thank you for viewing and commenting. After reading your comments I checked the active focus point, it was on the lower head and bill area where the white feathers are. I think the shutter speed of 1/2000 should have stopped any motion blur, the depth of field was 0.19m/7.5 inches which seems like enough. Maybe I was too conservative in sharpening, not sure but I did a do over with more sharpening. Maybe this is better, if not it will have to go among the vagaries of the unknown.

I still feel that it is soft in the eye and face area. Not sure what could have caused it...
