Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with it, but I have a personal goal not to process pictures of birds on dead sticks. That said, this perch was slightly more than that and is a very natural one for the Spotted Towhee in mountainous terrain.

Here he is seen making his presence known with a traditional calling pose.

In case you wonder, the darker patch around the cheek was just a reflective juxtaposition versus the head and neck and the sun angle. White/gray transitions in the lower tail are true and present in the RAW.

LR and PS, DNAI. Cloned a couple spots on the perch.

Love everything about this canvas including the perch. Perfect EXP with lovely light for wonderful details and colors (so, what's new). TFS

With a little Clorox added for Dan :)

This is with lights @ -15 in LR and exp just -0.15. Only a tiny touch with brush to lower highlights in a couple spots. Not a ton more to work with; this is just the natural hue of whites on this bird as is evident in about 15 shots from the series, unedited in RAW.

The sun crests late unfortunately over the mountain. This was about 740am, still a reasonably warm light.

I like the calling pose, yes the angle is a bit steep, nice BG, perch could be more attractive. sharp. whites look grey even in the repost and the WB looks a bit off, the rust colors a bit muted from here...

Hi Brian, the image has a lot going for it once you strip away the darkness and clipping of the Blacks/Shadows. BKG is then vibrant, colours richer and whites whiter - with detail.

I don't understand what you mean by "rust colors a bit muted"
