This adult loon was captured in June well after 9pm as the last rays of the sun filtered over the far shoreline. I liked the look back pose, and of course the dramatic colors.

    D500. 600VR. f/4 ISO 320 1/800s.

Post: LR and PS. Did warm up the color temp a bit, and did the slightest increase in color of the eye to give it just a hint of color. You have to really look to see it.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Love this image you've captured at such a nice low point of view, Randy. Beautiful look back as well, and great work on the eye. Just a wonderful summer evening image on the lake. Can hear the loons calling.

Randy, what a beautiful frame. The warm slot of the water line passing through the black strips and those gorgeous wave shimmers in the FG...

Also, to retain detail in the bird in a backlit image I know is not easy and you did it. The eye and the neck pattern, just stellar!

Super subjective, but might be tempted to evict the mosquitos. I know it's relevant to the area (i.e. the Midwest and skeeters and a perfect pair) but this is so smooth and serene that they seem like an afterthought.

    TFS!

Love, love, love the framing, light and overall image design on this beauty. Perfect execution IMHO. TFS

    ps
Top and bottom shadows and I can just see the eye... So cool...

Gorgeous frame. This one screams mood. Looks like art. Nice one.

    Very nice image.
Not a fan of darkness in the foreground. (Personal Choice) I am invisioning another version with more color in the foreground.

Thanks everyone for your input. I can see a version with a lighter foreground, even though that was not what it was really like.
