From Chachalaca Bend, TX in November 2017. This fellow flew in and landed close to me, nagged at me for a few seconds, and then flew off again. Long enough to get a grab shot, but not long enough to take off the teleconverter. This is essentially full-frame, cropped in from both sides for 5:4 comp.
Love the pose and fully agree with Randy's comments. This one screams vertical to me as I would also add to bottom if you have it. Just love the iridescence and the layered tail. TFS
Thanks guys. As I noted above, this was full frame, cropped in from the sides, so there is no more room at top or bottom. In fact, I was lucky not to cut off the head or tail in this grab shot. I agree more room top and bottom would be nice. Top is easy; bottom more of a challenge. But here goes. I'm sure pixel peepers will be able to find some repeats in the stump. Cropped to 4x5 portrait. (John, this is a he.)
