Why are you shooting at 1/2000 at iso400?
You could be at 1/4000 easy in this light.
    Just wondering...

Well, in THIS case, it would have been better to at least jump to 3200, but these were the first shots after I'd arrived at the site and the BS showed up so I went with what I had. As for the terns (the last post which also only received SS comment as well) I am interested in getting shots that freeze the action as well as more aesthetic shots that show wing movement and communicate action. I think it's possible to catch the legs, body and head of a subject such as a tern at 2K and obtain such an outcome. Thought that was largely the case in that shot. Perhaps I was wrong.

Love the light, the tail and feet hitting the water and the blur in the primaries to further enhance the feel of action. On the fence with reflection above bird. TFS

I think the motion blur on the wings gives the image 'movement'. The body and head appear sharp. I like the trail of water coming from the feet. I'm not very keen on the BG

Nice light here once again. The pose is nice. The reflection in the water is what it is.
