Captured this image in the early evening yesterday after finding a number of these beauties chatting away in a local grassland. The sun was getting low and the temperature was around 85˚ F. C&C welcome.

    Very well done Geoffrey!
I really like the raised wings and the perch is super!
Nice light too. I would desaturate the greens in theBg slightly.
How come you don't post your images bigger as allowed?

    Geoffrey:

I like the background, perch, exposure and sharpness. Interesting wings up pose, perhaps not the most elegant, but more interesting than straight sitting there with wings folded. Catchlight really helps here.

    Cheers

    Randy

PS: Gail and I were typing at the same time.

I do agree about posting larger, allows a much better critique and appreciation for a capture.

Geoffrey a fine capture. I have to disagree with previous comments regarding size, - purely a selfish observation but I have a 27" screen and if the image was much bigger it would not fit, do most people now have 32" or bigger?

Love the pose perch and setting

I find the colours a bit too vivid - is this Lightroom and a bit too much vibrance perhaps?

Thanks Gail. Agree with you on desaturating the greens. As for the image size, I normally don't like to post smaller/fit in your palm size birds larger than they are.

Agree about desaturating the greens, then you will have a very nice frame...I love the detail, pose and colours on the bird. Good crop. Nice capture Geoffrey.

Nice to catch this fella out in the open. The pose is very neat.

Thanks everyone. Indeed the greens need desaturation.
