He came and perched feet away from the lookout turret I occupied...pretty lucky. The unlucky part was getting a handle on an exposure that involved a bright, 4 o'clock afternoon sun inside the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. Lens choice might seem unusual for bird photography but it makes a lot of sense for travel. The background is untouched, the true open sky. Edited in Photoshop.

I think you did well considering the light conditions.....I would try reducing the contrast a wee bit. Its not the best POV...I wished the bend on top of the perch had been facing the other way. I do like the talons showing over the perch though. We can't get near close enough over here, apart from a set up...
Good comments from Will. From a comp. standpoint, I wish there was a bit more on the left, and a lot less on the right( 40-50% of the free space). All the negative space there doesn't add much, esp. because of the birds angle of gaze downward.
