    Default Least Grebe

This funny little guy spent far more time under water than he did on the surface, and it was tough to guess where he would pop up next. Often too far away for our smallest grebe at 700mm. But here he came close enough to catch this curious stare. Dark and gloomy light at Llano Grande, Texas in 2017.

Fits the theme well. Those eyes really pop against all those darker colors.

Bill, the Hitchcock theme works really well here for me. Good work.

I presume you didn't get a full reflection?

May consider omitting some of the flecks in the water in front and to left of subject.

The face alone is worth the price of admission. I remember them as being more gray. Does it look black because it was wet?

Thank you all. Yes, Artie, I also think they are usually more gray, and the wet feathers make him look blacker. He almost looks as if he was the victim of an oil spill, but that was not the case here.
