    Default American Coot

I found this American Coot perched on a concrete wall at Lake Mirror in Lakeland, Florida. I didn't want the concrete wall in the image so my thoughts went to a portrait. I talked to the bird " Hello Mr. Coot" and chirped to gain trust and hold it's attention as I moved slowly closer. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

The blacks look washed out to me. I would darken the plumage.
    Nice HA.

I like the head angle as it shows that beautiful and sharp eye. The Bill looks good also with nice exposure and detail. The Blacks do look washed out to me also.

A nice portrait of this coot. That red is very nice. Solid background. Should have entered it for the theme.

Repost addresses the washed out blacks.
Lovely portrait with good details. So easy to blow out the bill here, but you did not.
    Well done!
