Took my 'landscape' camera out to perfect my BIF game. The Killdeer and Avocets were out, which made for a fun day.

This one is only 500 pixels from full frame (less than 10% crop) on the 45mp D850.

    D850
    600mm + 1.4
    Handheld
    ISO 800
    1/3200
    f6.3

LR then PS, DNAI. Had to add a touch of canvas to bottom and right, cleaned up one tiny part of a wing. The lack of smoothness in the beak edges is from water drops, which you can see at full res.

Nice frame. Crop does not show that much, details look good.
Not sure what the landscape camera comment was about.
Equipment is equipment. Good images come from all brands and kinds.

Well done Brian....Looking good...probably your best BIF so far. Nice colours and detail throughout. I may try reducing the contrast on the head a wee bit...Love the flight pose..pity about that shadow on the far wing. The BG 'fits' the frame nicely.

Thanks Dan. Meant to say less than 10% total crop.

nice frame good wing positions and light, calling pose with open beak is a plus. I do wish for a better BG, would have been killer if it were all green

    Brian,
    This is absolutely excellent.
Tack sharp, great wing position and incoming flight path.
Open bill ?calling adds to the image.
I don't mind the shadow on the far wing.
    Absolutely no nits from me,
    Gail
