Default Black Skimmer - The Approach

Well, day one out with my new lens. Much to learn about both lens and camera. But hey, think this is my best skimmer shot yet. BKG is busy and dark, but the nearness of the subject helps (imo). Trying out AI DeNoise here (instead of my usual NI. Thought?).

    A9ii, SS:2000 ISO: 5000 1200mm (600 with 2.0), HH, C1P, PS, Dn.

Congrats on the new lens Jay! Looks like it's working fine! I agree with you that the BG is rather busy, but sweet light and good job on the skimmer, although the wing position is not my personal favorite.

looking good, it's a great first frame with the 600 + 2X (1200mm). was this pretty late in the evening? details and NR looking good for ISO-5000. these are bright birds and I never had to go above ISO-2K so this one must have been almost at sun set(?)

    did you see any owl?

    cheers

Really love the light (on subject and BG) on this canvas. EXP looks spot on and I don't mind environment. Looks like you are going to have much fun with that glass... TFS

The light is great... wish the bill cleared the wing, I don't mind the BG at all, gives a sense of place.

Jay, nice shot. Looks processed well.

Wing position probably bigger deal for me than bkg. Well done on the rest though, congrats!

Interesting skimmer frame. I like that sweet light. Maybe loosen the crop a little.
