A beautiful canvas overall. Love the perch, details and colors. Would also make a good vertical frame. Looks like BG could use a round of noise reduction. TFS
Welcome to the image critique forum!
I like the hummer but the image has a number of fatal flaws. it is very soft and noisy, the highlights are blown and show strong fringing. the image has a magenta color cast and finally it has too much empty space ...

It's a nice view of the hummer. But agree the image quality is just not there.
Hi Alex, welcome to BPN!!! Glaqd to see you posting. Beautiful subject, I love the little foot grasping at the perch. Good fluffy pose, and a nice side-profile look at the face. Some noise that can be dealt with is present in the otherwise beautiful green BG. A bit soft as posted, but it is properly focused and should sharpen up nicely for web presentation. If mine I would have pointed the lens down to get the subject higher in the frame with more of the delicate perch showing, and perhaps as a vertical as well.
Looking forward to more!!
A nice look at this species, but I agree the image is noisy and lacks details. I appreciate the asymmetric crop/positioning but think the bird is too far right. There is too much empty space at left.
Hi Alex, like the Coyote I think what's letting you down is the PP side and like cropping for composition, this is something you do need to learn, as it's as important as taking the image. Doesn't matter how perfect the original capture is, an image is easily killed at the PP stage.
Might be worth in bullet points sharing your Workflow in PP as this might highlight some areas where some simple changes can make all the difference, as again, taking it into LR with some minimal tweaks I managed to achieve this from the OP.

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
I tried to incorporate some of your advice. Is this edit any better?
Usually I will take an image into LR
-crop for composition
-do basic adjustments in the Basic panel, usually not too drastic
-Adjust the tone curve
-Adjust calibration if needed
New things I tried to incorporate with this edit
-Use PS to sharpen the image and reduce the background noise
-Use PS instead of LR to remove some of the little branches that I didn't want
Could you share how you were able to remove so much of the background noise?

Repost is still soft and noisy. From the strong purple fringing doesn't look like the RAW was sharp....might be able to sharpen in post
to get rid of noise, you can run NR on the BG using a plugin in PS. I use Neat Image.
