    Default Killdeer with Prey

Taken three years ago in an odd, almost industrial setting: a retention basin off a corner of a huge parking lot of an Amazon Fulfillment Center. Based on a tip, we found a number of shorebirds there including this guy, and some young Solitary Sandpipers and Least Sandpipers. We went back on several occasions with no success; I guess the water level had to be just right. Anyway, the prey in this case was a water bug coated with mud. Did a small amount of water cleanup.

It's a nice pose and a nice setting giving the conditions. The prey is another bonus as well.

I love the bird's pose and the bug. The setting is nice too. I think you were faced with heat distortion here though as the bird is quite soft, unfortunately. Pretty neat moment though! TFS

Nice pose and like the muddy prey.
Looks like the light was rather strong- bird looks a bit washed out.
I would add a bit of saturation to the bird.
I would take a bit off the top if mine.
I like all the little plants in the water.
My eyes must be getting bad because I think the head is sharp- I do see a faint white curvy line extending from the head going up and back. Not sure what it is but I would clean it up,
    Gail
