    Default Foster's Tern in action

Pretty stoked with this one, particularly after coming up empty on my two previous visits to this location. Guess third time is the charm....

Canon 400mm f/4 IS DO II on EOS 1DX2
    1/5000 at f/5.6, ISO 640
Processed in LR CC. There was quite a bit of water on the bird's head, so I cloned out a few hella bright highlights. I also removed out a few of the more distracting water droplets. Otherwise just standard sliders.

Yep. I'd be pleased with this one, too. I've found it tough to get just the right moment when they emerge from a dive with a fish. Pose, exposure, detail, sun angle all primo. Next time tell the fish to turn around.

    Hey congrats.

So, where was this great location. Don't tell me you went to MV on Friday afternoon...

I was going to but had to change to a morning shoot at Coyote and it was BORING!!!

Should get my 600 on Thursday so - may shoot this friday - there... if that's where you went.

Cheers. TFS - really nice one!

A great pose. Like the water droplets as well. Detail on the whites looks good as well.

I hadn't visited this whole year, so I went Wed, Thur, and Fri of last week. I live in San Mateo, so the reduced traffic in these covid days makes getting there and back a breeze compared to previous summers!

I've had it for a while and really like it. The problem is that it's sandwiched between my 100-400 II and 600 II and doesn't get the use it deserves.
