    Default Night Blooming Cereus

    Hi Folks:

Took this photo about a minute after the sun rose over the mountain directly behind me with the Night Blooming Cereus facing directly East. It started deteriorating as soon as I took the photo. We have had over 20 blooms on a plant over 10 feet tall. This bloom was about 6" across. The Trichocereus was over 8" . . . Hope you like it . . . Gus

another fantastic cactus flower, gus!! i wonder what a round of sharpening on the center of the flower would do for this. glad you are getting the opportunity to work these guys. they are beautiful!!

    Hi Harold,

When trying to not oversharpen, I do it using Lab mode & sharpen the lightness channel which I thought was a exotic vision ???? Do you like this version? To sharpen the original this much may be what you were thinking? . . . . Gus

I like the original Gus Seems like a delicate flower Only wish it idid not have all the little white circles

I know it would have affected the dof also but stopping down would have giving lots more detail to the fower... then maybe closing in? Excellent !!!

Hi Al, The white circles are the base of the thorns, and in hindsight I see what you mean about the DOF. Cactus blooms are so beautiful I think I take them for granted and just fire away at my last bird setting. Will do some planning on the next one . . . Thanks . . . Gus BTW: Fabs photos on her blog blew both Gina and I away. Jefe indeed!! :D

the "de thorned" one is awesome!!! gus, i was just trying to figure out how to get some more detail in the, i believe they are called stamen. that's all. i do like the color better than the black and white!!

nice job on evicting the white circles!!
