never seen a KD chick this young, you can see the gaps between the feathers. details look a touch coarse from the shimmers raising from the ground but all else is perfect, you got a dynamic pose too.

I absolutely love this!
Great, and i mean, great pose.
The extended wings and back leg are wonderful,.
Great light and POV and very sharp.
The eye and top of head are not as sharp as the rest of the photo. Still, a great image.
Well done Brian!

Repeat "Great Pose", what else can I say. Love the wing extension, close look at the feathers of this youngster. Good POV and light.

Hi Brian, lovely little bird. Wonderful wing position, looks like it was practicing taking off. The image does look a bit coarse, I think you were struggling with heat shimmer. Thank you for sharing.

Very neat how you can see through the wing feathers like that. The pose is spot on. As is the low angle. A beauty.

Pretty cute. A bit more sharpening on the head and face for web presentation would make this even better. I love the walking stride and perfect head angle.

Thank you everyone.
I have a version with some selective sharpening on the head but I was afraid it was appearing too distorted? More... too much?

repost is no good, got very crunchy and coarse
what viewer may not know is that you had some heat shimmers here. once that happens no amount of sharpening can help the image. with chicks it is always tough because they are so close to the ground and just a bit vapor rising from the ground, especially from vegetation like pickle weed will make the image soft and totally unusable. you did your best here not much more to add

Yes to a great pose. But all are too contrasty for me and even the original post looks over-sharpened and a bit over-saturated ...
