    Default Blue-winged Warbler.

This was the first time I got to see and photograph this species, so I am happy to have to good frames of it. We're just out of range for this species here, so driving an hour outside city limits is where this beautiful bird was seen.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld (from inside the car, lens barrel resting on window sill), small crop to help the composition. The BG was too yellow so added some blues to "greenify" it. Audio used. Try as I might I could not get good detail on top of the head without making the yellows unappealing, but still looks better than unprocessed...

    Daniel:

Beautiful little bird, like his pose, grip on perch, good choice to tone done the yellows in BG.

I might consider a version with the OOF leaves lower left removed.

Always fun to get a new one!

    Cheers

Beauty of a frame of this warbler. The diaganol perch is nice. I don't mind the leaves.

Daniel, excellent frame. What a gorgeous species!

Did you do anything to soften the tail or is that just dof blur out of the camera?

It's a soft photo, but not in a bad way as it's still sharp. Soft as in a peaceful emotion it evokes, well done!

Lovely bird well framed. I guess the light might have been just a bit soft to be able to capture detail on the head.
DOF at f4 has positioned nicely.

Love that look and it is sharp where it needs to be. I like all the leaves, details (even in the yellows) and of course the BG. TFS

Thanks guys! Yes, before posting I tried a version with the lower leaves removed but then image felt top-heavy for my tastes.

I love these sweet little warblers, and their bee-buzz song. This shows him nicely. I might also have evicted the oof leaves on the left but now I can see your point. In past years we've been lucky to have several pairs breeding within 1/2 hour from me, although I haven't seen or heard them this year. (Some of those parks were closed until recently.)

Hi Dan, lovely image. Your usual spot on techs. The background compliments the bird nicely. Thank you for sharing.
